New Features

  • Refreshed Visual Style — A new warm-stone color palette and serif/grotesque typography across the site for a calmer, photo-first feel. Default theme is now light; use the top-right toggle to switch between Light, Dark, or Follow System. Every page (settings, dashboard, pricing, profile, notifications, about, features, changelog, legal pages, photo upload, error pages) is now on the new palette — the rebrand is now site-wide.
  • Simpler Forecast Score Tiers — Conditions now have four clear tiers (Great / Good / Fair / Weak) instead of six. The new colors on the forecast table only mark the four metrics with a universal "better is…" direction (Score, Visibility, Clouds, Humidity); everything else stays neutral so the colors actually mean something. A new "How to read" legend below the table explains it.
  • Improved Cloud Forecast Accuracy — Cloud cover predictions now average across three weather models (GFS, ICON, JMA) for more reliable low/mid/high layer forecasts.
  • Sticky Date Headers in Forecast — Date labels now stay visible while scrolling horizontally through the forecast timeline, with alternating day backgrounds for easier navigation across multi-day views.

    Clearer SMS Opt-In — Phone verification is now a one-time step, fully separate from enabling ongoing golden hour SMS alerts; the alerts toggle lives in Notification Preferences and defaults to off so you choose when to start receiving messages.
  • Weather Icons Match Cloud Cover — Weather icons and cloud row colors now accurately reflect actual cloud coverage percentages instead of simplified weather codes.
  • Forecast No Longer Goes Stale — Fixed a bug where the forecast page could occasionally get stuck showing a date range from earlier in the week. Forecasts now refresh reliably across day boundaries.
  • Correct Times for Locations Outside Your Time Zone — Sunrise, sunset, and the date column on the forecast page now always show in the photo location's local clock, even if you're viewing from another country.
  • Free Plan Forecast Shows Future Hours — The 24-hour free forecast is now always the next 24 hours, instead of being partly filled with hours that already passed earlier today.
  • Photographer Names Display Correctly — Fixed a regression where photo cards, the photo viewer, follow lists, and the license-request inbox showed "Anonymous" instead of the actual photographer name.
  • Cleaner Photo Viewer — Redesigned the expanded photo modal so the photo and its details sit side-by-side on desktop and the unsightly right-edge scrollbar is gone.
  • Dark-Mode Map Now Readable — Fixed a bug where photo-spot markers, clusters, and labels on the explore map looked near-black in dark mode, with some cluster counts hidden behind city names. Markers now stay vivid against the dark basemap and every cluster number is visible.

    Cleaner SMS Alerts — Golden hour and window-update text messages now use a short `landscape.fyi/g/...` link instead of a 90-character forecast URL with encoded spaces and long coordinate tails. The message itself is also reformatted with clear line breaks (location, time, score on separate lines) so you can read it at a glance.

New Features

  • Faster Page Loads — Optimized data loading across the site with smarter caching and reduced payload sizes. Pages load noticeably faster on repeat visits.
  • Photographer Search — You can now search for photographers directly from the search bar. Switch between "Places" and "Photographers" mode to find other users by name.
  • Multi-Format Coordinate Input — The search bar now accepts GPS coordinates in many formats: decimal (25.033, 121.565), DMS (25°1'59"N 121°33'55"E), and more. No need to convert formats manually. Coordinate searches also show nearby photo spots with distance, and never count toward your daily search limit.
  • Remember Map Filters — Your map filter selections (photo status, categories) are now saved and restored when you return to the map page.
  • Improved Map on Mobile — The map now requires two fingers to pan/zoom on mobile devices, so single-finger scrolling works naturally to explore the rest of the page.

    Alert Rule Improvements — Clearer explanation of how global vs. custom alert rules work, plus quick access to alert rules from the notification dropdown. Save confirmations now show a toast message.
  • Subscription Confirmation Email — You now receive a confirmation email with your plan details, billing amount, and renewal date immediately after subscribing.

Bug Fixes

    Weather Alert Timing Fixed — Fixed an issue where weather condition alerts could notify you about time windows that had already passed. Alerts now only notify about upcoming windows.
  • Location Search Coordinates — Fixed a rare issue where searching for a location could result in invalid coordinates, leading to incorrect forecast data. The system now automatically retries and shows a clear error message if the issue persists.
  • Photo Location Matching Fixed — Fixed an issue where photos uploaded from a forecast page could be associated with a nearby but incorrect location. Photos now correctly match to the exact location you searched for.
  • Distance Units Now Match Your Preference — Fixed an issue where nearby spot distances always displayed in kilometers (or miles) regardless of your unit preference setting. Distances now correctly follow your chosen unit.

  • Sunrise & Sunset Times — Forecast timeline now shows exact sunrise and sunset times in the corresponding hour columns, so you can plan your shoots around golden hour.
  • ShadeMap & SunCalc Tools — Two new external tool links on the forecast page let you instantly view shadow maps and sun position data for your location.
  • Faster Page Loading — Reduced background database queries by ~90%, fixing slowdowns caused by high server load.
  • Faster Map Browsing — Explore Map now loads spots significantly faster, and panning back to previously viewed areas is instant thanks to local caching.
  • Weather Alert Accuracy — Fixed a bug where weather alerts were sent for locations outside your Active field. Alerts now only trigger for locations you've placed in the Active monitoring field.
  • Alert Notification Links — Clicking a weather alert notification now takes you directly to that location's forecast page instead of the dashboard.
  • ShadeMap Link Fixed — The ShadeMap external tool link now opens correctly with the right location and time.
